ALBANY, NY– The Albany Empire Arena Football Team announced today that they will host an open player tryout on Saturday, November 2 at Sportsplex at Halfmoon located at 6 Corporate Drive, Clifton Park NY 12065. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and tryouts will begin at 9 a.m. Kickers can report at 12 p.m. The Albany Empire’s open player tryouts are presented by MJM Pelkey Pavement Maintenance. 

In attendance will be Empire Head Coach Rob Keefe, along with the entire Albany Empire coaching staff.

“Coming off a championship season, we have no intentions of slowing down,” said Keefe.  “We are constantly looking to improve and be the best team that we can be while serving the Capital Region community.  We are looking forward to evaluating players that have a burning desire to help us defend our title!”

Now in the team’s third season, the Empire have brought on a handful of participants to the training camp roster in the first two seasons with one making it on the active roster throughout a full season.  The Empire are coming off an ArenaBowl championship season and are seeking the best talent to keep the foot on the gas and improve as a team to repeat and defend their title.

A pre-registration fee of $65 can be applied at before Friday, November 1 at 3 p.m.  Registration after that day and time will require an application fee of $80 (cash or cashier’s check only).  A t-shirt will be included in the cost and all fees are non-refundable.

Players will be tested on their 40-yard dash time, short shuttle and other position-specific drills. Appropriate workout gear and shoes/cleats must be worn.  Testing will take place on field turf – no metal cleats are permitted.  All positions will be evaluated in tryouts – QB, WR, FB, DB, LB, DL & OL, and K.  A trainer will be on hand for emergencies only.
